OREM, UT, UNITED STATES, October 8, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Techcyte, the developer of Fusion, the enterprise digital pathology platform, today announced that PathTools’ prostate analysis algorithms are now available on Techcyte Fusion® AP. The integration will give pathologists quantitative data to support some of the most challenging assessments in prostate biopsy review.

Determining the relative proportions of Gleason patterns requires careful examination of gland architecture across a biopsy. PathTools supports that work by proposing a classification for each gland (benign or Gleason pattern 3, 4, or 5) and calculating counts and areas for each pattern. Pathologists can then inspect the annotations and accept or override individual classifications.

“For labs handling prostate biopsies, the value of AI is in the details it brings to the review,” said Ben Cahoon, CEO of Techcyte. “PathTools gives pathologists measurements they can examine gland by gland. Bringing those tools into Fusion AP puts that information alongside the slide and case, where it can support their work.”

PathTools also reports the dominant pattern and the proportion of tissue area classified as tumor, and it separately flags cribriform architecture and perineural invasion. These outputs are designed to help both subspecialists and general pathologists focus their review and examine the structures underlying the AI’s analysis.

“Prostate grading often comes down to how much of each pattern is present, and those proportions can be difficult to estimate by eye,” said Dr. Dennis Della Corte, CTO and co-founder of PathTools. “We built PathTools to make those measurements available and let pathologists check the individual glands behind them. Our collaboration with Techcyte brings that approach into a platform that laboratories already use.”

PathTools is deeply integrated into the Fusion case view and slide viewer. Pathologists can examine gland-level annotations on the slide and review the associated counts and measurements. They can accept or override individual gland classifications within the platform and review the associated counts and measurements, keeping the analysis and review in one workflow.
