Principled Technologies found the AMD Ryzen AI 7 PRO processor-powered HP EliteBook X G2a led in performance, cellular connectivity, and on-lap audio

SAN JOSE, CA, UNITED STATES, October 14, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Principled Technologies (PT) compared three premium 14-inch business PCs configured with the same amount of storage and memory: the AMD Ryzen AI 7 PRO 450 processor-powered HP EliteBook X G2a 14 inch Notebook Next Gen AI PC and two Intel Core Ultra 7 365 vPro processor-powered laptops, the Dell Pro 14 Premium and the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 14 Aura Edition. PT ran five industry-standard benchmarks covering CPU, GPU, and on-device AI performance; measured thermals and acoustics under a 30-minute sustained load; tested cellular connectivity during a live Microsoft Teams call on a commute; and measured speaker output on a desk and on a lap. PT also used publicly available materials to compare collaboration and security features.

According to the report, “The AMD Ryzen AI 7 PRO 450 processor-powered HP EliteBook X G2a finished first in every performance benchmark we ran against Intel Core Ultra 7 Processor 365-based Dell Pro 14 Premium and Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 14 Aura Edition competitors.”

Key takeaways
• Up to 7.9 percent higher overall system performance in PassMark PerformanceTest
• Up to 37.5 percent faster multi-threaded CPU performance in Cinebench 2026
• Up to 36.7 percent faster time to first token when running a large language model locally in LM Studio
• Up to 25.2 percent better Cinebench 2026 performance after a 30-minute sustained load
• Up to 21.3 dB more cellular signal in the weakest stationary spots and up to 41 percent lower Teams audio round-trip time on a commute
• Only 2.8 to 3.6 dB of volume lost when moving from a desk to a lap, compared to up to 5.3 dB for the Dell Pro 14 Premium and 7.5 dB for the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 14
• 3.04 lbs. with charger, nearly a pound lighter than the Dell Pro 14 Premium

Cooler, quieter performance under sustained load
After 30 minutes of continuous rendering work, the HP EliteBook X G2a kept a higher score than both competitors while its chassis underside ran up to 3.9°F cooler and its fans ran up to 8.3 dBA quieter than the Dell Pro 14 Premium. The report notes, “Not only did the HP EliteBook X G2a maintain a significantly higher score than the competition after 30 minutes of sustained load, meaning it didn’t throttle as hard as the Dell Pro 14 Premium or Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon under extreme stress, it did so while preserving a cool exterior and keeping the noise down.”

Connectivity, audio, and everyday features
With Wi-Fi disabled, the HP EliteBook X G2a held the strongest cellular signal at every test location and sustained up to 2.24x the uplink throughput of its competitors while stationary. On a lap, it also led in audio: “Across the 50, 60, and 70 percent volume levels, the EliteBook X G2a was simultaneously the loudest and the least distorted device we tested.” The HP laptop also offers four USB ports compared to three on the Dell Pro 14 Premium, larger keys and a larger trackpad than both competitors, and Poly Camera Pro video features that neither competitor documents. On security, the report concludes, “For IT teams that want fewer moving parts, HP Wolf Security puts more of the stack under one vendor.”
