Copia Automation Now Supports Omron Sysmac Studio, Expanding Its Multi-Vendor OT Code Management and Recovery Platform
PR Newswire
CHICAGO and NEW YORK, Sept. 9, 2026
Sysmac Studio projects on Omron NJ and NX-series controllers can now be automatically backed up, version-controlled, and restored through Copia’s platform.
CHICAGO and NEW YORK, Sept. 9, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Copia Automation today announced that Copia’s OT code management and recovery platform now supports Omron Sysmac Studio, extending automated backup, version control, and rapid recovery to manufacturers running Omron NJ and NX-series devices. With this integration, Copia customers can bring the same modern code management and recovery discipline to Sysmac Studio-based operations that Copia already provides for Rockwell, Siemens, and other vendor environments.
When operations go down, recovery time is what determines the business impact. Yet the code running programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and other automation devices may be rarely versioned, backed up regularly, or tested for recoverability. Industrial backups can often live on an engineer’s laptop, on a USB drive in a drawer, or worse, nowhere at all. When something goes wrong, whether a cyber incident, a bad code push, or a hardware failure, recovery may depend on who’s in the building and what they remember.
Copia DeviceLink™ automatically backs up Sysmac Studio projects, so OT teams always have a verified last known version to restore to. Copia also detects unauthorized or accidental changes at the device level and gives engineers a full change history with visual diffs to validate edits and roll back in minutes. Sysmac Studio projects sit alongside code from every other controller in the plant, in a single, centralized system of record. Because Copia was built for OT, it slots into segmented, security-sensitive networks without opening new inbound ports.
“Copia has brought the science of reliable version control to OT sites across the Americas. It is great to see a user-first organization continue to invest in software that protects the code running critical operations,” said Thomas Kuckhoff, Product Manager Supervisor at Omron Automation Americas.
“The code running the physical world deserves the same rigor that software has had for two decades, and that includes the ability to recover quickly when something goes wrong,” said Matt Lee, Co-Founder and VP of Business Development at Copia Automation. “The recovery gap in OT is real. When something breaks on the line, most teams are still hunting for the last known verified copy on someone’s laptop while every minute of downtime adds up. Every plant we walk into runs a mix of controllers, and Omron is a major part of that reality. Extending Copia to Sysmac Studio means our customers no longer have to choose between the controller that best fits the application and the resilience they need to keep it running.”
With the new integration, Copia customers can:
- Schedule automated backups of Sysmac Studio projects across devices, eliminating manual, error-prone backups.
- Receive real-time alerts on code changes, allowing engineering and security teams to investigate unexpected or unauthorized edits before they cause downtime.
- Compare versions visually, validate legitimate changes, and merge updates through Copia’s Git-based Source Control.
- Recover the last known verified Sysmac Studio project quickly to minimize disruption and hit recovery time objectives with confidence.
- Manage Omron devices alongside other PLC brands in a unified view, without switching tools.
