Award-Winning Poet Harvey Fitz Releases Water For The Road

The Recording Academy member’s second collection reaches Amazon’s Top 100 in Motivational & Inspirational Poetry during its launch.

WASHINGTON, DC, UNITED STATES, September 9, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Award-winning spoken word artist, author and cultural curator Harvey Fitz, known artistically as Sir Harvey Fitz, has released his second poetry collection, Water For The Road: Poems, a 152-page exploration of fear, focus, faith, healing, forward movement and becoming.

Published by Hueman Inkwell Press, Water For The Road became available on Amazon on September 8, 2026. During its launch, the collection reached #60 in Amazon’s Motivational & Inspirational Poetry category, placing it among the platform’s Top 100 titles in the category.

Structured across five movements — Fear, Focus, Faith, Forward and Fruition — Water For The Road examines what it means to continue when certainty is unavailable. Fitz blends spoken word, lyric poetry, haiku and senryu, spiritual reflection, humor and personal examination into a collection designed not simply to inspire readers, but to accompany them through difficult transitions.

“Water For The Road was never intended to pretend the road is easy,” Fitz said. “I wanted to create something that could sit beside somebody in the uncertainty — something they could carry when they don’t necessarily need another answer, but they do need enough language, faith or water to make it to the next mile.”

The collection includes works such as “MENtal Health: Peace,” “The Art of Unlearning,” “The Day I Didn’t Sink,” “No Is a Love Language,” “Do Not Wait Here,” “Honey Don’t Spoil,” “When Water Was Thirsty,” “Go Build Your Own Yes” and the title poem, “Water for the Road.”

Early praise for the collection has highlighted its focus on healing, resilience and self-examination. Poet and educator Rebecca Dupas, Ph.D. described the book as offering “the type of healing you didn’t see coming and never knew you needed.”

Richmond, Virginia’s inaugural Poet Laureate Douglas Powell, also known as Roscoe Burnems, called the collection “proof that the shadow work bringing us into the light is guided by the stanzas of poetry.”

The release also marks the inaugural title from Hueman Inkwell Press, Fitz’s independent publishing imprint.

Fitz is a Recording Academy member, two-time DMV Renaissance Award recipient, 2023 Art To Go-Go Spoken Word to Go-Go Champion and 2022 Haiku Verzuz “King of Haiku.” He is also the author of To Haiku’m It May Concern and creator of ART OFFICIAL: INTELLIGENCE, a spoken word album performed over original Washington, D.C. Go-Go music.

The book’s launch coincides with Fitz’s upcoming featured performance for Write About Now Poetry in Washington, D.C., on September 12 at Yours Truly DC Hotel.
